Welcome to the website of Carpenters' Local 742. This website has been established for a more modern way to communicate with its members and contractors. Also to provide basic information for people or groups who are interested in our services, or interested in becoming a member of our Local. For 107 years Local 742 has answered to the call of our members, contractors, and our community. For our members this website will provide a easier way to stay connected and informed with local Union events and Union events nationwide. Also it will provide a list of contacts and information useful to our members. For Contractors, our business is to supply the demand of skilled manpower. With over 300 members rigorously trained in Concrete Form work, Exterior Framing, Interior Systems, Scaffolding, and many other areas of Commercial Carpentry. We are here, ready to work! For the general public, this website will give you a basic gateway to understand who we are and what our business is about. Also will provide the needed information for anyone interested in a career as a Union Carpenter. The United Brotherhood of Carpenters offers a 4 year Apprenticeship training program to qualified applicants. You will be trained in a vast array of skills needed to get the job done properly and in a timely fashion. Thank you for visiting our web site. Community Volunteers Needed

United Way United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois is currently recruiting volunteers interested in reviewing programs applying for the 2009-2010 funding cycle. Fund Distribution Volunteers evaluate numerous proposals from local health and human service agencies and decide how donated dollars will be distributed. Panels will be reviewing program that fit in one of three community vision areas: o Access to Health Care o Community Basics o Youth Development Committing to be a volunteer involves: Serving on an allocation panel of approximately 10-15 community volunteers Attending approximately 7 meetings schedule in February-April, with the majority falling in March. Working with United Way staff to identify human service needs in various programs. Participating in presentations given by Endorsed Agencies. Decision making specific to funding programs that best meet the needs of Macon County
